...Even walls!
In the last 3-4 weeks, our daughter has discovered that she can scramble up all sorts of surfaces, just like a goat (she loves goats). She has learned that "highchair" is simply another word for "step stool," very handy for exploring those intriguing kitchen drawers.
The crib--the final frontier--can be scaled (however inelegantly) but getting back down is rather a different matter. Once in, Jenny finds that saying "up, up" to Mommy pretty much takes care of that problem.
I should have known this was coming when, mid-summer, Jenny climbed the steep steps on the big kids' play set at Lovelace Park. She wanted to try, I figured "no way she'll make it," but I'd let her figure that out by trying. But nooooooo, she climbed up one step at a time with mom steadying her.
I can hardly deny her the pleasures of high adventure--I still have fond memories of scaling the built in bookcases in our house in Detroit as a toddler. It does mean that mommy and daddy have become much more vigilant with Jenny. I know, I know, there's more to come...
