An Update...

Kris, who regularly visits the China Center for Adoption Affairs website, learned last week that families whose paperwork was received in China by the end of May (2005) received their referrals at the end of March. This means that the wait is now 10 months, a good bit longer than the six months we expected. If this time holds (and whether it will is anyone’s guess—it may be longer, it could be shorter), we should be getting a referral in October, and traveling by the end of the year.

We’re trying not to let the waiting drive us crazy. Kris and I have taken a trip (a real fun one, just like everyone recommends, to Curacao, more on this later). We just spent the weekend with my parents and Kristen’s mom (another lovely time, more on that later, too!). We have plenty of house projects (anyone know a good mason/concrete/front walk/driveway repair/replacement person?). And spring means yard-work and gardening (which both of us actually find relaxing).

But the uncertainty and just waiting is a bit hard. I really just want to get on with things.

One thing we treat ourselves to is checking in on Morgan (adopted from China in March 2005) and her family via their blog. We’re both quite taken with her, and really appreciate her mom and dad sharing their experiences. We feel better prepared just reading their site.

Have a look for yourselves.
