Look at All Those Kids!!!

We are delighted to tell you that the latest set of referrals are coming in, and include families whose documents were logged in at the China Center of Adoption Affairs up to and including December 8, 2005. These families have waited for close to two years to see their children's faces, some for even longer, especially the single moms.

Congratulations to all the new parents, seeing their kids' faces for the first time!

Links to some of the happy families can be found on the Rumor Queen's site (or China Adopt Talk).

We are especially delighted because this in all likelihood means...WE ARE NEXT!. Our LID is December 12, 2005. We expect, then, to receive our own referral during the first week of December. Almost 24 months after our documents were logged in! So, let's start the ticker....

Guangzhou, here we come...

Kris and Dave,
I've just learned (yesterday) of an author who has been around forever promoting children's literacy. You may be familiar with Jim Trelease. He has written books such as the "The Read-Aloud Handbook" and "Read-Aloud Rhymes for the Very Young." I have not read these books yet, but intend to purchase them. The first title is for the parents and the second for the kids. My understanding is that these books are 'must haves' for all families. Best of luck to you. Chris Rankin

Thanks Chris!

We'll add Trelease to our lists of authors to look for. Any advice on how to ease the language transition? Our plan is to "just keep reading, just keep reading..." (aloud of course).

Chris--
Thanks so much for the wonderful book suggestions! Jenny's library is growing everyday, and these two books sound like must haves. The parent reviews on Amazon are all excellent.

I look forward to reading with Jenny as much as I look forward to anything. Books make the world a big interesting place, and can take one into other people's lives, cultures and endeavors. How fun is that?!

Great to hear from you, Chris. Life at the Beach sounds good, as do the girls. We'll send out the general alarm when the referral comes.
