Waterbaby

We reported back in May from Guangzhou that Jenny seemed to love water. That interest has definitely held up since coming home. We live about a mile from the coast of Lake Michigan, with wonderful beaches and lots of sandbox potential. So water plays a big part in our summer fun.

A few weeks in, mom had to pick up a wading pool for the backyard. Jenny approved. Here she is playing with her fabulous beach/pool toys from her Auntie Jaydee and Uncle Jolon in Hawaii.

We also joined the Wilmette Community pool, where Jenny and mom and dad have spent lots of spare time. It is a truly amazing facility, with a toddler wading pool complete with small water features, and a larger kid pool with water slides and the most elaborate water features/fountains I've ever seen. Pool is definite Daddy-Jenny time; Jenny likes to "swim" with Daddy, as illustrated here. Love the shades, dude.

We took Jenny back to the beach front when Grandma Kitty visited recently. She was less keen on the water this time, which surprised us. But she was REALLY into sandplay. Love those beach toys from Hawaii!

The summer is just starting to wind down, and I know we will look back on this time fondly and wistfully. Next year this time, we'll have a very different little girl. She's already such a different little girl than we first met in Guangzhou. The changes--and they happen everyday--are truly remarkable, as you can see.

Hello Kris, Dave and darling Jenny,
it's Jen from Australia who adopted Ebony in Dec 06 - it's so lovely to read of your adventures with Jenny - it reminds me so much of my sweet little girl when we first brought her home. I remember when I had to stay in the room with her until she fell asleep and now she is the most wonderful sleeper! She turns 3 on the 20th Aug and today she slept 3.75 hours! Not uncommon! It's the most wonderful journey isn't it?! You can view my blog at www.jenboote.blogspot.com if you want. Enjoy!
