Day 7: A Day of Firsts...

Day 7: A Day of Firsts...

We had a pretty good day today. A bunch of things happened for the first
time.

Jenny ate at restaurant for the first time.

Jenny tossed her cookies for the first time (not related to the
accomplishment directly above).

Jenny took her first real bath. (Ever. They are not bathed at the SWI as
much as doused. It kinda showed).

Jenny had her first poop (related to the cookie tossing and the following
"first").

Kristen laughed until she cried for the first time as a parent (Daddy
cheered Jenny on to the above accomplishment by reciting Tom Arnold's bit
from the first (?) Austin Powers movie if you haven't seen it, go here
(now) http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=J-YVt4gfquA&feature=related it runs a
bit slow in the PRC)

And if you're laughing after that bit, the last first is the best. Jenny
cracked her first big smile today, as she and Mom were looking in the
mirror. It melted Kristen's heart, and made Daddy quite happy too. We'll
post a picture of one of those as soon as we can.

Oh, how was the bath? Elena screamed - her orphanage literally hosed the off w/ cold water - so actually sitting in water was alarming for her - but she smelled better:) But she screamed a lot the first few days. It seems like you're all progressing wonderfully - keep the pics coming! How great for the three of you - nothing can describe the joy of having a child - enjoy it - laugh, cry and celebrate!

Well done, you three!! I would like to add another first...I think this is the first time Dave has admitted to being able to recite the Tom Arnold bathroom scene from Austin Powers! Groovy, Baby!! (Don't worry, I've added this skill to your bio.)

I am thrilled for you all and happy to see that things are going well. Jenny looks like a perfect little gem, and we can't wait for her first trip to the office! And that nagging, emotional, haven't had quite enough sleep, can't really focus, I THINK I know what day it is, but haven't felt this good...EVER feeling? Yep. Cool, isn't it?!?!

Enjoy your little girl! Being able to have a new perspective on the world around you is one of the greatest things about being a parent, and I'm sure she will continue to amaze you both!

Kristen and Dave,

We are all loving the pictures and your notes here at CareCenter. So happy for you all that we all can't stop crying. Take care of yourself and enjoy. She is adorable and keep taking the photos. I'm sure it will be great for her to see later...Kristin

What an amazing girl. She is smart and beautiful, it's clear. You are so wise and you're definitely holding up well, as is Jenny, with as big a change as life deals out!

I'm delighted to be following your journey! Glad that Jenny cracked a smile...no doubt that warmed your heart!

Love all the firsts and can certainly relate. The first smile is the absolute BEST!! Not the hint of a smile or a little grin, but the first full-blown smile. There will be many more to come and they will all melt your heart. Wait till you get the first Mama. We are having daily firsts here at home. Tonight was the first time Tori said "cookie." Nice and clear and you know why she said it...of course she wanted a teething cookie! Can't wait to read more!

Love,
Jaydee, Jolon, & Tori

HI! So sorry I've been slow to respond to your posts! I have enjoyed every photo and all your comments along the way and thrilled to see pictures of you holding Jenny in your arms! What a wonderful first list of firsts! She is beautiful and oh so beautiful. Congratulations.

Kris and Dave,
I just love the picture of today. Kris, you have the natural "mom" posture with Jenny on your hip! Dave--great job of capturing the girls in the camera!

I had the joy of watching my "baby" (now 18) win All Conference at the high school track meet today in the 4x400 event. Soon you'll be doing the similiar stuff!

Sounds like you're trying the carry her around until she falls asleep technique. Good for your exercise! And I gather you've not had the pleasure of projectile vomiting yet; also one of the seven wonders. How that little body make that stream go so far.

How's the paperwork going? And I take it you get home on or about Dave's birthday?

We're off for Das Bot this weekend maybe in the rain and with Bjorn's girlfriend. We're learning about teenage boys and their girlfriends. With my history I'm terrified. So now we'll try it in the confined space of a sailboat. should be interesting. Offspring are interesting no matter what age and we continue to learn new and bizarre things. Watching their sense of humor emerge is lots of fun. You'll love it.

I remember well Meiya's first bath, she took to it like a duck to water and yes, I took a little plastic duck for the bath!! Your darling will have many firsts and I know she will be lovingly supported as she experiences them.
Keep enjoying your wonderful Jenny and your time in China. I just love reading your posts
Cheers

Wonderful pictures. Obviously the smartest kid in the class, just like her parents. Hippie, this will be good for your soul. And, if not that, then your patience. Enjoy the beginnings, kirk
